RenaKare Gel is a prescription potassium supplement formulated for cats and dogs to address hypokalemia. This palatable gel provides essential potassium gluconate to support proper muscle, nerve, and organ function. Administered orally, it helps maintain normal potassium levels in pets under veterinary supervision.

Directions:

For adult cats and dogs: Administer 2 mEq/4.5 kg (1/2 tsp/10 lb) orally twice daily. For kittens and puppies, consult your veterinarian. Administer with food. The gel is highly palatable; place a small amount on the pet’s nose or in its mouth to initiate interest, then apply to food or the pet’s paw for subsequent doses. Dosage may be adjusted as necessary by the veterinarian. Store in a dry place at controlled room temperature (15C30C/59F86F). Keep the container tightly closed.

• Potassium gluconate – 2 mEq (468 mg) in a palatable base

Cautions and Warnings:

For animal use only. Keep out of reach of children. May cause hyperkalemia if used in excess. Frequent monitoring is recommended. Adverse effects may include gastrointestinal irritation, muscular weakness, twitching, irritability, and cardiac conduction disturbances. Potassium salts are contraindicated in animals with hyperkalemia, severe renal impairment or failure, severe hemolytic reactions, Addison’s disease, decreased gastrointestinal motility, and acute dehydration. Use with caution in animals receiving digoxin, potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, or NSAIDs. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
